By allowing what I feel to just be, I will be able to detach from my reaction and see things from a higher perspective. “I reacted this way because I let myself be affected by other’s judgment,” “This person attacked me because of their own insecurity,” “It upset me because it reminds me of a past scenario I have not yet made peace with…” These are examples of what realisations may occur when I take the time to observe what is taking place. When I acknowledge the core beliefs behind my reactions and let them go, my consciousness naturally raises BEYOND old patterns. We do not blame the mail carrier for bills that are delivered, just as we do not blame the mirror for what it reflects. Likewise, it is pointless reacting to reflections of my un-integrated emotional charge. I will make friends with the unknown. I will create moment to moment from a field of infinite possibilities. I am naturally a fluid being. If I am really afraid of the unknown, I should be screaming right now because I am in it! But that is not the state I want to be in. I want to quit dragging the past along with me and stop projecting an image of what my future should or could look like. When I do this, it is like watching three channels superposed on one screen: I got my past, my present and an imagined future all playing at once. I cannot see clearly! However, when I dis-identify from the past and let the future be unknown, all that is left for me to see is what is real: THIS MOMENT. In this moment, everything is clear and fresh, everything is for me to experience and create with. Freedom can only be felt in this moment! After all, it is by constantly projecting a known past into an unknown present that I get stuck in my patterns. It is amassing the energy I spend holding on to my past fears in order to predict my future misery. I will stop opting to be afraid and less in control, and dare to fully enjoy the present moment.

Answers to my challenges are often quite simple. If I find myself analysing and re-analysing all the time, it is likely I am spending too much time in my head. I should get out of my mind! If I think about it, if I begin to analyse it, if I start to argue with it or try to “figure it out,” I will become lost in thought. No one gets anywhere trying to figure out a sunrise. A sunrise is something I just be with. And I get from it whatever I get from it. If I try to analyse a sunrise, the experience the sunrise has for me will go away. I will be in the BODY. One, if not THE most effective way to connect with the moment, quiet the mind, release resistance, drop judgment, feel my inner-guidance and raise my consciousness is to connect with my body. When I am caught up in the mind, notice how my whole attention and energy seems to be scattered around my head and body – not here, now and within. An effective way to bring me back to reality is to connect with what is naturally present – such as the movement of my breath and the very sensations of my body. This brings me awareness out of the stream of compulsive thinking and into the silent movement of energy within. I will go into my inner body, feel that my energy field is alive. And I will notice, I am not thinking anymore. I can still listen. I will love freely. I will stop carrying barriers and protections around my heart, preventing love to flow freely. I will drop the belief that love can hurt, or that conditions need to be met before I can allow love to flow. This one hits home for me since I have often closed myself off when I felt rejected or saw that love was not equally reciprocated. I can see now how this is a very restrictive illusion that actually creates more tension and suffering. If I truly want to lighten up, I need to let the doors of my hearts open even if this means releasing built up pain from the past. This will not only release my old perceptions of conditional love, but will also give me the opportunity to experience the freedom of unconditional love for others and most importantly MYSELF. The truth is, love always flows effortlessly between all beings regardless of external appearances and roles. We ARE Love, and we are one! When I let go of the fear of feeling and allow energy to flow in and out of the heart, I will realise that it is not love that hurts. Unconditional love is my natural state; what is “hurting” are the protections and conditions I build around it. How I relate, or rather how well I love, depends on how empty I am of ideas, concepts, expectations. I will look at a picture of Planet Earth. I will see how diminutive my LIFE and concerns are compared to other things in the universe. The result is that I will enjoy the LIFE that is before me. It will allow me to have inner peace.

LIFE invokes me to accustom my tongue to speak well, no matter the reality of experiences accosting me right now and no matter how long that pain may have lingered. The facts about my present pain does not negate the truth about my past joy and the possibility of future recoveries. I should find the good in the bad and sing about it. I should look for it till I locate it! My LIFE is not only made up of bricks of pain, it also has blocks of good, fun, advantage and happiness. I should look for them, remember them; add them back to me! No matter where LIFE has fixed me, I should find fun in it, look for the joke in the duress and locate a smile in the midst of it all. I should smile! I should not get angry at problems; I should solve my problem without becoming defeated. It has dawned upon me that, there are many ways of killing a rat without burning the house.
